Oral Procedures

At St. Clair Beach Dental, we offer oral procedures to help our patients who need complicated treatment. Let us help you!

Wisdom Teeth Removal

One of the most common oral surgery procedures is the removal of wisdom teeth.

Wisdom teeth may be extracted due to existing discomfort, decay or to prevent common problems that may arise in the future.

When wisdom teeth begin to erupt, a number of problems may occur.

If the jaw is not large enough, the teeth may become impacted and therefore unable to break through the surface of the gums.

Often time’s wisdom teeth break partway through the gums, and a flap of gum tissue grows over them.

When this happens, food and germs can get trapped under the flap and cause gums to become red, swollen, and painful. These are signs of infection.

More serious problems can develop from impacted teeth, such as infection, damage to neighboring teeth and bone, or a formation of a cyst.

For those who might be a little apprehensive about wisdom teeth and general extractions, you will be happy to know that our office offers nitrous oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas and an I.V. consicious sedation.

Our ultimate goal is to enable our patients to receive dental treatment in a comfortable manner.

Root Canal Therapy

Deep cavities and cracks in teeth can allow bacteria to enter the pulp that nourishes the teeth, leading to irritation and infection. Eventually, the pulp may die, threatening the health of the surrounding tooth. In cases like these, your dentist will try to save the natural tooth with a root canal treatment.

At each check-up your dentist looks for possible signs of infection. If root canal treatment is necessary, your dentist can perform the procedure. It is important that you receive treatment as soon as possible to prevent further infection and possible tooth loss.

Root canal treatments remove the dead or infected pulp through a small opening in the tooth. The root canals are sealed to prevent bacteria from reaching the bone, and the opening in the tooth is sealed with a filling or crown.
